Soft Furnishing

Solid fiberglass pultruded rods from Precision Pultrusion Ltd are increasingly being used in the manufacture of some soft furnishings, in particular as rods and flat bars for Roman blinds.

Roman blinds are neat and elegant and look very simple from the front, falling in a series of level folds to the sill. But behind the streamlined pleats there is a clever system of rods slipped into taped casings at the back of the blind that holds the folds straight. Pultruded solid fiberglass rods and flat bars are ideal for use in these blinds as they:

  • are very strong - high tensile & flexural strength kilo for kilo is higher than steel (i.e. will not bend or dent like aluminium)
  • have superior dimensional stability over a wide range of temperatures (i.e. will not warp or twist in extreme temperatures like wood)

Rods are stocked in diameter sizes 3.5m, 4.4m and 5mm and cut in standard 5m lengths. Flat bars, which add weight to the blind, are available in two sizes, 20mm x 2mm or 25mm x 3mm. Both rods and flat bars can be custom made to suit your requirements.
